Аннотация: This collection of male nude and paintings is the first of this period to have appeared in print. Its publication represents a renewed interest in the human Figure throughout contemporary Western Art. It is a rediscovery of a valuable tradition that for centuries represented the kernel of an artist’s training. The male figure is back in focus after a hundred or so years of being out of favour. These antigue studies break through today’s myth of polished musculature and show us not only athletic definition - our era’s dream - but a pervading softness and vulnerability, leading to the feeling that the figures are raw-naked rather than nude. This volume will be an invaluable aid to students of fine art and art history, to practising artists, and to collectors, as well as being a fresh source of pleasure for art fans everywhere.
